The awards recognize the substantial proceeds from Akbar Brothers’ exports, boosting Sri Lanka’s economy. Even amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Akbar Brothers continued its operation adhering to health guidelines and ensuring a steady flow of export revenue.

The Presidential Export Awards (PEA) are the most prestigious awards presented by the Export Development Board (EDB), to exporters in recognition of their exceptional contribution towards the development of the nation. It is awarded by the President Sri Lanka and the selections are based on multiple criteria giving an opportunity for all export enterprises both large and small to be eligible for an award. The awards ceremony was held for the 24th consecutive year on the 26th November 2021 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
