Akbar Brothers Limited to become the first ever Sri Lankan tea company to be awarded the internationally recognized ISO 9001 and HACCP quality certificates.
ASIA’S FIRST CARBON INSET COMPANY
Adhering to the company’s sustainable goals and in-line with doing its part to mitigate climate change, Quick Tea (Pvt) Ltd received the net-zero Carbon emission status for its tea bag manufacturing facility in 2018.
ECO LABEL CERTIFICATION
A certification that identifies environmentally preferable products or services within specific categories. Quick Tea (Pvt) Ltd has earned this accolade, highlighting its commitment to sustainability in the global tea industry.
COVID-19 SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Akbar Brothers (Pvt) Ltd was the first tea exporting company in Sri Lanka to be awarded this certification, from the SLSI. This recognized the prompt procedures and protocols Akbar Brothers put in place with the on-set of the pandemic for the safety of all their stakeholders.
FAIRTRADE
The certification indicates that Akbar is in compliance with international standards to ensure social, economic and environmental well-being throughout its supply chain- from producer to consumer.
ISO 9001
ISO 9001- is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Thereby demonstrating the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
ISO 22000
ISO 22000- recognizes Akbar Brothers (Pvt) Ltd maintaining international standards for food safety management at all levels, leaving no doubt to the safety of consumption.

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard for Environmental Management Systems. It provides a framework that organizations can use to establish and effectively manage their environmental responsibilities.
HACCP
HACCP- The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a systematic preventive approach used in the food industry to ensure food safety. It identify physical, chemical and biological hazards in order to eliminate the risk of the hazards being realized at the following activities at Akbar Tea’s manufacturing facilities:

GMP- is an international system followed by Akbar Brothers to ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards. It is designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product.
